主題：Who Determines Chinese Firms’ Engagement in Corruption: Themselves or Neighbors? （企業腐敗的原因：自身還是鄰居效應？）
    摘要：Why do firms engage in corruption? This paper investigates the determinants of firm corruption in the Chinese context and highlights directional influences of firm corruption. The analysis finds that firms’ decision making on engagement in corruption can be affected by their own past experience of bribing bureaucrats, neighboring firms’ malfeasance and unobserved culture and custom. Moreover, there is substantial regional and industrial heterogeneity. The race-to-the-bottom emerges through the mechanism of path-dependence and copying behavior in corrupt activities. Thus, petty firm corruption can develop into a systematic phenomenon. More practical anti-corruption policies call for cross-region cooperation in design and implementation.


演講者簡介：尤婧，2011年于英國曼徹斯特大學獲經濟學博士，現為中國人民大學農業與農村發展學院副教授，英國劍橋大學訪問研究員，研究領域包括發展經濟學、應用微觀與微觀計量經濟學。在Oxford Bulletin of Economics & Statistics、Journal of Development Studies、Health Economics等SSCI期刊發表論文12篇，在《中國農村經濟》發表論文1篇。主持國家自然科學基金1項，教育部課題3項，聯合國、英國外交部和北京大學等國內外課題8項，擔任Agricultural Economics、China Economic Review、European Journal of Political Economy等7本SSCI期刊的匿名審稿人。
