【Abstract】China’s 35-year implementation of the one-child policy has generated more than 150 million only children who have become an increasingly important source of labor force. By sending fictitious resumes to online job postings in various industries and job categories in three major cities, we investigate how the combination of gender and only-child status affects an applicant’s probability of receiving a callback for an interview. We further compare the impact difference before and after the one-child policy relaxation that allows two children nationwide. Our findings show that, before the policy change, the likelihood of receiving a callback is significantly lower for the only-child than for the sibling-child applicants, and this result is fully driven by females, while no difference is observed between only-child and sibling-child males. Policy change closes the gap in callback between sibling- and only-child females via increasing callback rate for only-child females, but has no significant impact on callback for the other types. Our results suggest that women, but not men, are negatively affected for the prospective child-bearing duties.  
主講人簡介:何浩然,北京師范大學經濟與工商管理學院副教授,瑞典哥德堡大學經濟學博士。主要研究領域為行為與實驗經濟學、公共政策評估。近年來,已在國際期刊Experimental Economics、Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization、Journal of Economic Psychology、Economics Letters、Environment and Development Economics、Environment and Planning A、Journal of Forest Economics等和國內期刊《管理世界》、《經濟學(季刊)》、《世界經濟》等上發表多篇論文。
