Abstract: This paper introduces a firm-level simulation model of the circuit of capital with financially extended Harrodian investment behavior. The model demonstrates that capitalist economies with heterogeneous firms can endogenously generate chaotic cycles. Stability and bifurcation analyses show that the (Harrodian) instability of the system is caused by the firm’s ‘a(chǎn)ggressiveness’ regarding the size of the ‘rent’ between investments in the financial and the goods markets. Furthermore, the heterogeneity of firms results in a chaotic pattern of capital accumulation. Finally, a set of steady states around which the system fluctuates chaotically is found by solving the balanced growth problem.

主講人簡介：

江嘯博士畢業(yè)于紐約社會研究新學院（New School for Social Research），現(xiàn)任教于美國丹尼森大學經(jīng)濟系，2019年獲得副教授終身教職。主要研究領域包括經(jīng)濟學思想史（側重古典經(jīng)濟學）、國際貿(mào)易和發(fā)展、經(jīng)濟模型（投入產(chǎn)出、可計算一般均衡）以及經(jīng)濟政策分析。江嘯擁有建模和實證經(jīng)濟學方面的一流技能，并且對國際貿(mào)易和經(jīng)濟思想史有著深刻的理解。自2012年獲得博士學位后，他在國際學術刊物上發(fā)表了10篇論文，4篇書籍章節(jié)，以及5篇工作論文。他曾在聯(lián)合國國際勞工組織、華盛頓經(jīng)濟政策研究所和東南亞國家聯(lián)盟經(jīng)濟研究所擔任經(jīng)濟顧問職務。他最近的研究致力于開發(fā)更適合發(fā)展中國家的“基于開放政治經(jīng)濟學視角”的政策模擬宏觀模型框架。
