Characterizing the energy efficiency advantage of foreign-invested enterprises in China’s manufacturing industry

報(bào)告摘要：

The economic census data suggests that foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) in China outperform 

the Chinese owned enacterprises (COEs) in terms of energy use efficiency. In this paper, we develop 

a new energy occupancy input-output table characterizing FIEs and COEs to compare their 

differences of total energy intensities per unit productions of China’s manufacturing industry 

in 2007.The results show that the total energy intensities of COEs in manufacturing are generally 

10%-40% higher than that of FIEs at the industry level. We further characterize these advantages 

of FIEs over COEs into the underlying determinants, by measuring the potential of manufacturing 

energy saving amounts assuming FIEs dominate the productions. It turns out that the improvements 

of manufacturing structure, energy use technology and production chains in COEs would lead 

to 5%-45% of the overall industrial energy saving.

作者簡介： 

蔣雪梅，中國科學(xué)院數(shù)學(xué)與系統(tǒng)科學(xué)研究院助理研究員，研究方向?yàn)閰^(qū)域經(jīng)濟(jì)、投入產(chǎn)出分析與低碳經(jīng)濟(jì)。蔣雪梅女士同時(shí)擁有荷蘭格羅寧根大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)與管理學(xué)院經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)專業(yè)與中國科學(xué)院管理學(xué)院管理科學(xué)與工程專業(yè)的博士雙學(xué)位。2009-2014年，她參與的項(xiàng)目包括國家自然科學(xué)基金應(yīng)急項(xiàng)目-“保障國家能源安全的節(jié)能減排政策研究”、 中國科學(xué)技術(shù)協(xié)會-“‘碳關(guān)稅’對中國外貿(mào)規(guī)模、結(jié)構(gòu)及其發(fā)展趨勢影響”項(xiàng)目、以及EU 7th Framework Programme 的“World Input-Output Database”項(xiàng)目等等。目前蔣博士已在國內(nèi)外期刊發(fā)表論文十余篇，包括“ Improved Estimation of Regional Input-Output Tables Using Cross-Regional Methods”以及“Targeting the Collection of Superior Data for the Estimation of Regional Input-Output Tables”等等。
