The Economic Impacts of Climate Change on Chinese Agriculture

本次能源經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)研討會(huì)邀請(qǐng)到加州大學(xué)圣巴巴拉分校經(jīng)濟(jì)系博士候選人張鵬先生做學(xué)術(shù)講演。

報(bào)告摘要：
This paper estimates the economic impacts of climate change on Chinese agriculture with the county-level data from 1980 to 2010.Using the random fluctuations in weather, we are able to identify the causal relationship between weather and agricultural yields. We find that extreme high temperatures are harmful for rice, wheat and corn,but if we control for additional climatic variables, especially relative humidity, the negative effects of high temperatures are much lower.We also explore the effectiveness of potential adaptation strategies to climate change, and find that irrigation can significantly mitigate the negative effects of extreme high temperatures and drought, but fertilizing has limited consequences.

        張鵬，加州大學(xué)圣巴巴拉分校(UCSB)經(jīng)濟(jì)系博士候選人。2010年從山東大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)院獲得經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)學(xué)士學(xué)位，同年從山東大學(xué)法學(xué)院獲得第二學(xué)士學(xué)位，2011年從加州大學(xué)圣巴巴拉分校獲得經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)碩士學(xué)位。

        張鵬先生的主要研究方向是環(huán)境與資源經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)的實(shí)證問(wèn)題，研究主題包括農(nóng)業(yè)，勞動(dòng)力市場(chǎng)和氣候變化。正在進(jìn)行中的研究項(xiàng)目包括：氣候變化對(duì)中國(guó)農(nóng)業(yè)的影響，氣候變化對(duì)勞動(dòng)生產(chǎn)率的影響，以及氣候變化對(duì)美國(guó)制造業(yè)的影響等。

        能源經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)研討會(huì)（Energy Economics Seminar）由中國(guó)人民大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)院能源經(jīng)濟(jì)系定期推出，旨在為研究中國(guó)能源經(jīng)濟(jì)問(wèn)題的學(xué)者提供一個(gè)交流的平臺(tái)。
